Kyle's Top 10 Animations for January!

Hey there folks, Kyle here! I'm here again to talk about my favorite animations for the month of January! Eagle-eyed viewers may have noticed that I never released a top 10 list for December. Truth be told, I spent my holidays drinking like a fish saving orphans from fire bears and as a result I didn't have time to make one. Sorry about that! I don't see any booze orphan-hating bears around, so let's get cracking!

I'm gonna cheat a bit with this one. This short came out late December so technically it shouldn't be on this list. However, since this video is so awesome, I just had to make an exception. Shane Newville made this ultra bad-ass fanimation of Megaman X tearing a group of Reploids a new one! As a fan of the blue bomber, I was squeeling in my chair during the entire video. Check out his other work over at Rooster Teeth!

Pitching a new rap single is hard. Especially if you're trying to convey a deep, but meaningful message. LazyMuffin got an audio clip from Game Grumps and animated an entire scene based off it. The final punchline and the facial expressions get me every single time.

Coming up at number eight is an 8-bit re-creation (see what I did there?) of the classic He-man Intro. Caleb Hystad did an amazing job at creating a pixel perfect tribute to one of the manliest men to ever exist.

Life must be really easy for Pokemon trainers. Every day they walk around aimlessly, beat up wild animals and talk to hot chicks at the local gym. I mean, TwistedGrimTV makes it look so easy. So much personality and character injected into Pikachu's movement it's SHOCKING. *Ba dum pish*

I'm going to go on record here and say that Lindsay and Alex are the cutest people on the planet. Need proof? Just watch their adorable animations! I swear, I must have watched this particular video at least a hundred times over the course of January. Super smooth animation and funny jokes wrapped up in an adorable little package? What more could you expect from the crew behind the awesome Baman Piderman series!

I'm such a sucker for music videos with fantastic animation. Not only is this song great, but features some outstanding animation. I really like the whole "animated/moving cardboard" feel of the whole thing. It reminds me of the books I used to read as a kid. Only now it's alive and has a guitar playing tree. I tip my hat to "The Staves" for a wonderful video.

For those of you who don't know, a few years back Mondo made a series called "Ka-POW!" with the help of an amazing group of people over at Ghostbot. At the moment they're doing the cinematics for the upcoming Sly Cooper game, and to celebrate it's release they made this totally awesome short. The style, movement, humor and action of the Sly Cooper series is captured perfectly in here! Nice work you guys. You NAILED IT!
Feel free to check out some of their other work. (Demo Reel, Anniversary, La Munkya and CTRL + <3 + DELETE)

I'm going to straight up admit this. This short by CatFat brought a tear to my eye. It's a very touching story about a boy who claims that he can travel through time. Story aside, I thought the vibrant use of colors was great and the animation was pretty damn good. Now if you excuse me, I'm going to go eat a tub of ice cream and cry on my bathroom floor.

I'm a HUUUUUUUUUUUUGE fan of Two Best Friends Play. I must have every video they've ever made memorized and burned into my brain forever. With the the help of 2Snacks, Matt and Pat have started doing their own animated shorts. Not only is it funny and well animated, but they also make a commentary on today's video game industry. I can only hope Hitomi J-cup or Emma Stone shows up in future episodes!

When I first saw this, I was absolutely speechless. This is a fantastic story about two friends who go out on a mighty quest in search of a priceless treasure and the obstacles they face along the way. Everything about this is amazing. The story is heartwarming, the animation is wonderful, the designs of the characters and the world are imaginative... All in 9 minute video! To me, this seems like something that would play just before a Pixar movie. Not only is this the best animation of the month, but it might be the best animation of the year.
